HOME OF SHED47

Lathalmond Halt is the start point for your visit, and across the tracks from the home of Shed47, the loco shed itself. Here you can jump on board our ever-expanding standard gauge line, and visit our station shop and small museum telling the story of the railways in West Fife.

Currently, our trains are diesel hauled, but within the loco shed, we are working on a local colliery steam locomotive, NCB No29, which is progressing well. Find out more about the return of steam to West Fife during your visit.

SCOTLAND'S NEWEST NG RAILWAY

The West of Fife Munitions Railway is the newest member of the Shed47 family and Scotland's newest narrow gauge railway. Our narrow gauge line is progressing quickly. Travel behind Scotland's newest steam loco - Big Dave, or a diesel locomotive rescued from a peat works, on track rescued from another Scottish defence site, and see a different view of Lathalmond. Board the munitions railway at Lathalmond Lower, across the road from Lathalmond Halt.

"Thoroughly enjoyed the short ride on the Hunslet. Very well stocked souvenir shop with very friendly staff. Well worth the visit."

STEP INTO THE PAST

Visit our wartime railway weighbridge, the last one working of its kind in the country. Opposite, is our model railway showing the huge changes to the Lathalmond Valley during the Second World War and beyond - from bogs to buses. See too our Captured In Time exhibition of photos from 1941 during the site's construction.

Once a year, Lathalmond Wartime takes over the whole site for an event like no other...
